We think that is a fair question and one we hope you seriously consider as you explore who we are and what we have to offer.  We ask that you take the time to learn as much about us as you can from the information in this web site. Our Commitment To You

We believe the ultimate success of the alpaca industry is founded on the creation of mutually beneficial relationships among alpaca owners. Admittedly, we would like the relationship to lead eventually to alpaca or breeding sales. If not, we hope you receive some “take-away's” from talking with us that you can use as you develop your business.  

We understand many of you reading this may be in the discovery and investigative stages of your exploration of alpacas.  We understand you may be trying to determine if you want to start out with non-breeding or breeding alpacas.  We understand that whether you are looking at alpaca ownership as a hobby or business you have lots of questions. We will encourage you to do your research before becoming an alpaca owner.  We encourage you to bring your questions to us...you can expect straight talk and honest answers.

Should you decide to invest in an alpaca, or alpacas, from Alpacas of Somerset Farm we want you to know you will receive service that goes far beyond the point of purchase. We know that when we reach the point of purchase a solid, friendly, supportive, and trustworthy relationship has already been established. A relationship we intend to maintain and nourish in the years ahead. We will be available for you day or night, rain or shine. No question will be too silly or unimportant. We pledge continued support and mentoring as long as you feel you will benefit. We will even help you search for and evaluate alpacas outside our herd as you grow your business. In short, we will "be here" for you.

Our vision is to be a destination point for Alpaca owners and breeders based on the quality of our livestock, our breeding program, and the services we provide.

Our mission is to create and maintain a reputation within the industry and among our peers of honesty, integrity, sound business practices, and to improve the quality of our herd--one generation at a time.

Our breeding program is built on a foundation of excellence. Some of the most notable foundation bloodlines in the emerging North American alpaca livestock industry are represented in our herdsires, females and their offspring.

Our breeding decisions focus on the continual improvement of essential fiber characteristics while maintaining or improving physical soundness in each new generation.

Our commitment is to the health and well-being of our alpacas, the building of the North American alpaca herd, fiber production, continuing education (attending and providing), on-going support for our customers and alpaca colleagues, providing a wide-range of services that meet the needs of our customers, and to the fulfillment of our vision and mission.

Voluntary Code of Ethics

As alpaca owners/breeders committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards for our industry, We promise:

1. We will treat everyone who comes to us in our capacity as alpaca owners/breeders as we would want to be treated, with fairness and honesty.

2. We will willingly share our pertinent knowledge and experiences with prospective and new owners/breeders and will endeavor at all times to either provide them with factual answers to their questions and concerns or refer them to someone who can.

3. We will make a full and complete disclosure of any facts known to us concerning any alpacas sold or leased by us which might adversely affect the price a buyer is willing to pay for that animal.
 

4. We  will at all times refrain from doing or saying anything which might adversely affect the business or reputation of our fellow owner/breeders.
 

5. We will at all times promote our own business in a positive way to bring credit to us, our business, our national associations and our fellow owner/breeders.
